RAF Coningsby and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight

RAF Coningsby and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight:
I absolutely love spending time at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire taking photos of the Typhoons and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. My camera kit has changed significantly and I now prefer to use a BushHawk shoulder mount so I can easily track the planes as they pass overhead.

In the past, I’ve tried using a tripod or a monopod but find these are really awkward when you lift the camera and lens overhead. I also tried a gimbal mount on the tripod but found it too cumbersome.
The trick is to use a slower shutter speed so you get the radial blur of the propellers on the old planes……..trouble is, using a long lens risks getting camera shake in the photo, which defeats the object!
Here’s a few photos…..
